State Farm and ADT test new offering in Georgia
State Farm and ADT have launched the discounted ADT home security package in Georgia, bringing the incentive to a total of 14 states.
It appears that the companies are testing different offerings in different states. For example, in AZ, AR, IL, IN, MS, MO, OK, PA, SC and TX, the package requires a 36-month monitoring contract, while in OH, NV, and TN, customers can cancel any time.
Now, in Georgia, customers are presented with two options – a base package with a Google camera (Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell), and a base package without the camera. The former comes with a more expensive monthly monitoring rate of $29.99, while the latter ($19.99/mo) is on par with the other states. The package choice is not the only change the companies are making – free ADT professional installation is not included for customers in Georgia.
State Farm and ADT first launched the incentive in March 2023 and they ended the year with ~6k in sales. For the first quarter of 2024, the companies had just under 5k in sales. According to ADT CEO Jim DeVries, the 13 states (excluding Georgia) account for ~40% of State Farm’s home insurance policies, and the companies decided to “get better” in these states before rolling out the offering in other locations. With that being said, the companies plan to introduce another DIY package in Washington.
DeVries also shared that the companies are exploring a water detection pilot, which will be marketed to State Farm customers who have had water claims in the past.
When the companies announced their partnership in September 2022, State Farm had 13.7 million home insurance policies in force.
