State Farm adds Toyota and Lexus vehicle data to claims process
State Farm is giving eligible Toyota and Lexus drivers the option to share vehicle data to help speed up auto claims handling.
The insurer has partnered with Connected Analytic Services (CAS), a Toyota affiliate and the automaker’s exclusive insurance data aggregator, to add a new self-service claims feature to the State Farm app.
Owners of 2020 or newer Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with data communication modules can choose to share crash data on a one-time basis when filing a claim. If customers consent, State Farm may access information such as vehicle speed, direction of travel, point of impact, and the location of the accident.
According to State Farm, the telematics data is used only for claims resolution and only for the date and time of the accident. The information will not be used for underwriting or rating purposes, and customers who opt out can still file claims through their preferred channels.
“This service helps make the claims process easier by providing faster insight into what happened and what needs to happen next. By using real-time data, we can more quickly confirm important details and help move claims forward efficiently. At the same time, customers continue to receive the personal support and guidance they expect from their State Farm agent.” – VP of Property & Casualty Claims, Jennifer Megargell.
Founded in 2016, CAS serves as Toyota’s exclusive data aggregator for personal lines insurance and provides vehicle-derived data to insurance partners with customer consent.
The new feature builds on State Farm’s broader telematics strategy, which already includes its Drive Safe & Save usage-based insurance program and its Accident Assistance mobile feature.
