VSK introduces AI in claim settlements
VSK has introduced AI to assess property damages. The technology is already working, and it will gradually become available to all policyholders who have updated the VSK insurance mobile app. The service allows customers to reduce the speed of obtaining a referral for repairs from 7 days to two hours after fixing the insured event online.
AI is activated at the stage of registration of an accident after the client uploads photos from the scene of the accident to the mobile app.
At the first stage, the AI recognizes the parts of the car from the photo, compares them with the reference contour of the car without damage and, using a special algorithm, highlights the deformed areas of the car, and also determines the place and type of damage – a scratch, chip, dent, and so on. Further, the technology for each damaged part promptly selects the repair format: repair or replacement of the part.
At the last stage, the system issues the policyholder with an opinion listing the damage, and after processing the application, the policyholder automatically receives a generated referral for repair.
In the future, the use of AI in conjunction with other digital services will allow the insured to go to the garage of their choice at any convenient time, even right from the scene of the accident. In addition, AI will be able to predict work on hidden damage, which practically eliminates the error in determining the size of the loss.
“The introduction of AI technology into the settlement process is a landmark event for both the company and the industry as a whole. If artificial intelligence technologies themselves are already being introduced everywhere, then the main task facing the management of companies is to rebuild processes taking into account the new technology. It is no longer possible to work in the old way. And this is serious work not only within the company, but also with all the players in the car market: service stations, experts, car dealers. The fact that such an opportunity is given directly to our client in a mobile application is a continuation of the strategy for the development of remote services. More than 60% of our clients are already choosing the remote settlement.” – Olga Sorokina, member of the Board of Directors, Deputy General Director for Business Development of VSK Insurance House.
