LINE Launches LINE Kakeibo

Japanese messaging service LINE, which recently started to offer insurance, has launched LINE Kakeibo, a financial account and personal asset management service available on LINE and as a standalone app for iPhone and Android.

The app links with a user’s bank account, credit card, e-money, and other financial services, LINE Points and other reward programs, and e-commerce services to create a central database, and automatically generates a personal account book. It also tracks a user’s money transfers, payments, account balance, and other LINE Pay activity logs and incorporates them in the account book. The app provides different features such as quick view of a user’s daily budget, cash flow tracking, account management, and tips for better money management.

Line plans to add new features and services in the future, including a group functionality that enables users to manage their money with their partner or family members, along with a personal financial account and asset management service that enables users to save “wisely and efficiently,” and helps with asset building and management.

Kakeibo, the Japanese word for “budgeting journal” was invented in 1904 as a way for housewives to manage budgets. You can read all about it here.
