Generali’s 3-pillar strategy

The global head of connected insurance at Generali, Steven Hales, provided the gist of how his company approaches technology. (1) It acquires. For instance, it acquired MyDrive Solutions back in 2015, which does data analytics, so it can repeatedly say it has a telematics strategy. (2) It partners. For instance, it recently partnered with Progressive so it can better understand drivers and provide better service. (3) It’s on the lookout…for great companies. Speaking of Generali, there’s an ongoing rumor that Allianz may bid for its French business, which sounds a lot like an older rumor, which suggested the Italian insurer may merge with Axa. On a lighter note, @chrischeatham brought this to our attention:

Turns out, Generali thinks it’s (1) wise to advertise on Business Insurance and that (2) men should treat their wives to identity protection coverage this holiday season. It isn’t and it definitely isn’t.
