Generali launches the Generali Excellence Academy

Generali has launched the Generali Excellence Academy, a Group-wide learning and upskilling program for its roughly 90,000 employees. The academy is headquartered in Palazzo Berlam in Trieste and is positioned as an enabler of the carrier’s “Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence” three-year plan.

The model is built on six features: cross-Group collaboration, governance through a Multi-Country Learning Committee representing all Business Units, an Internal Faculty of leaders and experts, AI-personalized learning, more flexible in-person formats, and a single Group learning platform aligned across local systems.

Generali invested €74 million in learning in 2025, up from €62.5 million in 2024. Its upskilling index reached 31% in 2025, with a target above 90% by 2027.

The program builds on the Group Academy, which Generali introduced in 2014.

“In a rapidly evolving context shaped by Artificial Intelligence and technological innovation, it is essential that we continue to place people at the centre of our transformation. At Generali, this means building on the strength of our approximately 90,000 people serving 75 million customers worldwide. The Generali Excellence Academy will play a key role in fostering a culture where human talent and technology work together, enabling our organisation to adapt, innovate and remain close to the customers. Rooted in Palazzo Berlam in Trieste, it reflects our heritage while reinforcing our ambition to shape a future where people, empowered by innovation, continue to make the difference.” – Group CEO Philippe Donnet.

Bottom Line: It’s a rebrand and expansion of the decade-old Group Academy, now with AI and a bigger budget. Generali is spending €74 million a year to keep its workforce ahead of its own transformation — and to triple its upskilling rate in two years.
