Howden launches insurance product for seafarers on leave

Howden has launched SAFER at Home, a new insurance solution designed to protect seafarers and their families while they are off contract and not employed at sea.

The product offers hospitalisation cover and is designed for shipping companies to purchase on behalf of their seafarers. Additional benefits can be tailored based on client needs.

SAFER at Home was developed in partnership with UK-based Crewsure and supports The Mission to Seafarers, which operates in around 50 countries and more than 200 ports.

“Seafarers dedicate their lives to keeping global trade moving, yet too often they and their families are left exposed when they are on leave. SAFER at Home closes that gap, providing peace of mind not just to seafarers, but to the families they support.” – Danny Whiteside, Global Practice Leader for Marine, Cargo & Logistics at Howden.
