Howden Ireland acquires Opes Wealth Trust

Howden Ireland has agreed to acquire Opes Private Clients Limited, trading as Opes Wealth Trust, a Dublin-based financial planning firm specializing in retirement, investment, and wealth advisory services for self-employed individuals, business owners, and private clients.

Founded by Cathal McCabe, Opes Wealth Trust will join Howden Ireland’s Financial Advisory division, adding expertise to the broker’s growing wealth and retirement planning offering.

The deal follows Howden Ireland’s acquisition of Maven Financial Planning in April 2026 and supports its strategy to build a larger financial advisory platform in Ireland. Launched in 2025, Howden Ireland’s Financial Advisory business now includes more than 80 professionals.

The acquisition is subject to approval by the Central Bank of Ireland.
