Protect My Let adds Addept’s Not for Lions pet damage coverage

Protect My Let , part of Howden , has added Addept Insurance’s Not for Lions pet damage insurance to its landlord offering.

The product is designed to address gaps in traditional landlord insurance policies, which often exclude damage caused by tenants’ pets, including damage to carpets. Not for Lions provides optional coverage for pet-related damage to landlords’ contents and carpets and is available as both an add-on and a standalone policy.

According to Addept, the cover includes up to £1,000 for chewing, scratching, plucking, and fouling, while other forms of pet damage are covered up to £5,000. The product also features tenant deposit ringfencing and integration with tenant deposit adjudication processes.

Not for Lions is underwritten by Salvation Army General Insurance .

“The Renters’ Rights Act does not mandate pet damage insurance cover and so has left many landlords without any form of redress should a tenant’s pet damage their property. Enlighten landlord insurance providers such as Protect My Let have recognised the importance of providing their customers with access to a dedicated solution that addresses the protection gap.” – Richard Finan, Managing Director, Addept Insurance.

“This partnership demonstrates how we continue to evolve our insurance solutions to meet the changing needs of our landlord customers. We have listened closely to client’s insights and kept abreast of developments in the market to ensure we’re offering products that fulfil a genuine and emerging need. With the Renters’ Rights Act strengthening tenants’ rights to keep pets, it’s increasing important that landlords have appropriate protection against the associated risk of possible property damage.” – Kelly Newman, Associate Director for Protect My Let.
