SunCar expands EV insurance footprint
SunCar Technology Group is reporting significant premium growth from XPeng, Tesla, Xiaomi, and other EV partners following its investment in the Anji AI Technology Services Center. The company has been expanding its role beyond new-car insurance to renewals and service packages, using an AI-driven cloud built specifically for EV manufacturers. The platform integrates user data, vehicle information, and insurance workflows to support lifetime customer value.
Through the first nine months of 2025, premiums generated for XPeng reached $160 million, up from $50 million a year earlier. Tesla also saw premiums climb to $328 million from $113 million in the same period of 2024. SunCar says Tesla’s renewal conversion rate has risen to 75%, well above industry norms, due to personalized renewal and service package recommendations based on vehicle age, mileage, and maintenance history.
The company is deepening its AI capabilities through an integration with ByteDance’s Doubao LLM, which is being used to improve underwriting, claims assessment, and customer service. SunCar expects this foundation to support more complex use cases, including claims processing.
Beyond technology, SunCar is leveraging a nationwide network of more than 48,000 automotive service outlets and thousands of mobility partners, offering services ranging from maintenance and roadside assistance to designated drivers and airport transfers. The company anticipates its EV partnerships will continue to broaden into areas such as claims collaboration, smart mobility, and data enrichment as it pushes further into the EV insurance and services ecosystem.
