Southshore Insurance Partners with GEICO

In a LinkedIn post, Southshore Insurance Professionals announced that it is now offering commercial insurance from GEICO. In a different post, the message more specifically stated that this partnership pertains to commercial auto insurance in Florida. Southshore Insurance Professionals is an independent insurance agency located in Brandon, Florida, founded in 2014. It isn’t clear whether this is a direct appointment or one done through an agency cluster, but we hear that GEICO has been building a commercial team in Katy, Texas to manufacture their own commercial products.

Based on the Big “I” 2022 Market Share Report, the independent agency channel accounts for 88% of all commercial lines written premium.

The news follows the appointment of Neelea Boell as Director of Agency Operations Midwest at GEICO as of February 2024. She was previously with Progressive for 21 years. In further context, a little over a year ago, we informed our readers of discussions between GEICO and Goosehead as the D2C insurer was exploring the independent agency channel. And last month, we shared that “GEICO is very close to officially launching in multiple states with independent agents.”

GEICO shared the following statement with Coverager: “The Independent Agent channel is something we are only exploring at this time, and we have no further information to share.”
