State Farm offering more than one million free Ting sensors

State Farm is offering customers more than one million free Ting sensors to help detect electrical hazards in their homes. According to 2021 data from the National Fire Protection Association, electrical failures or malfunctions are the second leading cause of home fires.

Since 2020, Labs @ State Farm has collaborated with Whisker Labs, the maker of the Ting sensor, to offer sensors to eligible homeowner customers across the country. Over 200k homes are now monitored by a Ting sensor which has resulted in “thousands of success stories,” and in many cases, imminent fire loss prevention.

According to a January update by Whisker Labs, its sensors helped detect 3,000 electrical hazards, a milestone for the company. Here is one story:

In addition to offering sensors at no cost to eligible customers, Whisker Labs provides a $1,000 credit toward remediation of electrical fire hazards.
