Zurich introduces all-risk coverage for Agri-PV systems in Germany

Zurich Group Germany has introduced an all-risk insurance policy tailored for small to medium-sized agri-photovoltaic (Agri-PV) systems.

The coverage addresses the unique risks of dual-use land—where solar panels generate power while protecting crops from heat, soil drying, or heavy rain—by offering modular protection for installation, operations, and income loss.

The policy includes three modules: installation coverage during construction, electronics insurance for operational failures, and loss-of-income protection for insured damages. It also extends coverage to third-party property such as livestock, crops, and agricultural equipment.

Zurich’s offering aims to improve investment security for farmers and developers, supporting Germany’s broader photovoltaic expansion goals, with research from the Fraunhofer Institute showing Agri-PV’s potential capacity at 500 GWp—above national 2040 targets.
