RT Specialty announces leadership succession plan

RT Specialty , the wholesale broking arm of Ryan Specialty, announced a series of leadership changes that will take effect on August 1, 2026.

Ed McCormack, CEO of RT Specialty since the firm’s inception, will transition to Vice Chairman and remain in that role through 2027.

Brendan Mulshine, currently Co-President of Ryan Specialty, will assume the additional role of CEO of RT Specialty. Mulshine joined the firm in 2012 and has worked across its business units as part of a 30-year career in law, insurance, and reinsurance.

Brenda Austenfeld, Co-President of RT Specialty and CEO of its National Property Practice, will become Deputy Vice Chairman of RT Specialty. Hugh Mooney, currently President of the National Property Practice, will succeed her as CEO of the property business.

Meanwhile, Chris Houska, CEO of RT Specialty’s National Casualty Practice, will become Vice Chairman of the casualty practice through 2027, with Ryan Grimes, currently President of the National Casualty Practice, taking over as CEO.

RT Specialty is a wholesale distributor of specialty insurance products and services, handling property, casualty, professional lines, transportation, personal lines, and workers’ compensation business on both an open market and delegated authority basis.
