QBE taps Velocity Frequent Flyer for new insurance rewards play

QBE Insurance has partnered with Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program to let customers earn Points when purchasing eligible QBE home, car, or small business insurance. The collaboration gives QBE access to Velocity’s 12-million-member ecosystem while offering consumers a rewards hook tied to everyday cover.

New QBE home and comprehensive auto customers can earn up to 80,000 Velocity Points — 30,000 per policy at purchase and another 10,000 at renewal — enough for several economy reward flights. Virgin Australia Business Flyer members can earn up to 15,000 Points on eligible small business policies, plus 5,000 more at renewal.

QBE says the partnership is designed to add value and simplify access to its products through a loyalty platform Australians already use. Velocity framed the move as another way to help members extract more value from mandatory household spending.

To qualify, customers must be Velocity members, provide their member number during purchase, and keep the policy active for at least 90 days. Renewal bonuses require holding the policy for 90 days after renewal.
