Progressive’s Castle is out of Florida

Judging by its site, Castle (Home Repair) , the home repair service from Progressive, is now only available in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio.

As background, we first introduced Castle in early 2021. The home repair service was available in Tampa Bay, Florida, promising customers to complete their repair “by a thoroughly qualified and credentialed service provider.” Each completed service is backed by a 3-year workmanship warranty. By July 2021, the service expanded to Austin, Texas, however, by March 2022, it pulled out of Texas. Now, the service is no longer being offered in Florida.

This brings to mind Anew by Nationwide albeit in this case, only it’s a virtual home repair service rather than a real repair service. Late last year, Nationwide shared that “Anew is packing up and joining forces with a new digital home guidance platform by Nationwide.” The new service – Home Journey Guide – is a content-play rather than an actual service or product. “With Home Journey Guide, you get a tool that will not only prioritize your projects — but also help you make decisions on how to improve your home as both the place you live and as an investment.”

Bottom Line: Going from 3 states to 1 isn’t a good look.

🔒 Many insurers are going beyond insurance. Few do so quite successfully.
