Ping An opens its first self-operated hospital in Shenzhen

Ping An has opened its first self-operated hospital in Shenzhen as part of its broader push into health and senior care. The new Shenzhen Beiyi Rehabilitation Hospital, operated by PKU Healthcare Group, will offer a range of rehabilitation services, from acute and critical care to long-term home-based support, with capacity to serve around 100,000 patients a year.

The hospital enhances Ping An’s integrated model that ties insurance, rehabilitation, and senior care into a single ecosystem. It complements PKUCare Rehabilitation Hospital in Beijing to create a north-south network serving customers across the Greater Bay Area.

Shenzhen Beiyi focuses on six core specialties – neurology, orthopedics and joints, pediatrics, geriatrics, spinal cord injury and pain management – and is equipped with AI-enabled tools, including exoskeleton robotics and 3D posture and gait analysis systems deployed across the care pathway.

Ping An plans to connect the hospital to its direct-pay system for high-end health insurance customers, as well as national and international medical insurance platforms, enabling streamlined claims and in-hospital payments. The hospital also links with Ping An’s “Zhen Yi Nian” center to support care across the hospital, community and home.

The opening is part of Ping An’s ongoing expansion of its healthcare footprint. As of September 2025, the group reports partnerships with over 37,000 hospitals and more than 107,000 health management institutions in China, alongside a network of pharmacies and self-operated medical facilities. Nearly 250 million individual customers engage with Ping An’s health and senior care services.

Shenzhen Beiyi now serves as Ping An’s flagship rehabilitation center in the Greater Bay Area, anchoring the group’s strategy to build a unified finance, health and senior care platform
