MAPFRE launches new microinsurance line for small entrepreneurs in Latin America
MAPFRE introduced a new line of microinsurance products for small entrepreneurs in Latin America, starting in Colombia and expanding to Peru in 2026.
The offering provides low-cost coverage for illness, accidents, death, and protection for homes and small businesses, and is part of the company’s push to narrow the region’s $316 billion insurance protection gap.
As part of the launch, MAPFRE partnered with empatIA Technology to deploy an AI assistant on WhatsApp that trains microfinance advisors in real time, reducing onboarding costs and improving access to insurance education.
