Mapfre and Carrefour launch insurance partnership in Spain

Mapfre and Carrefour have officially launched their insurance partnership in Spain, with Carrefour customers now able to purchase insurance products through Carrefour’s tied insurance agency.

The initial offering includes accident, death, and grocery basket insurance, with additional products expected to roll out over time. Carrefour Club members receive a 3% rebate on eligible policies, credited to their Carrefour Savings Check when purchasing new policies or renewing existing ones.

The companies said the partnership combines Carrefour’s retail footprint with Mapfre’s insurance capabilities to create a more integrated insurance distribution model. Customers can enroll through digital and telephone channels.

The launch follows the exclusive agreement the companies announced earlier this year and represents Carrefour’s expansion into insurance services alongside its retail business.

Carrefour operates 204 hypermarkets, 161 Carrefour Market supermarkets, 1,221 Carrefour Express stores, and 70 Supeco locations in Spain.

Mapfre is Spain’s largest insurer, serving 7.2 million customers in the country. In 2025, the company reported €9.6 billion in premiums in Spain, up 11.1% year over year, and net profit of €436 million, an increase of 24.5%.
