Duck Creek Technologies’ Curt Stevenson and Lisa Gilgan recognized as ACORD Individual Leadership honorees 2016

Duck Creek Technologies today announced that Curt Stevenson, chief digital officer, and Lisa Gilgan, director of training, were recognized as 2016 ACORD Individual Leadership Award honorees at the ACORD2016 ceremony in Boca Raton, Fla. Both leaders were nominated before Duck Creek acquired Agencyport Software in August 2016.

The award recognizes individuals who have shown exemplary leadership in the areas of standards development, advocacy, and/or implementation activities. It acknowledges the leadership of members who are guiding the insurance industry toward greater semantic clarity in the sharing of insurance data, either through the base underlying vocabulary (data model) or detailed transactions, providing consistent data exchange for important, impactful business capabilities.

“This is an enormous honor for me,” Stevenson said. “And while I’m pleased with the recognition from my peers, we promote standards because it is the best thing to do for our customers, for the industry and, from an ease-of-integration standpoint, for our company.”

Last year Stevenson served as an ACORD 2015 Innovation Challenge Judge and was an active participant in the ACORD 20/20 Group; the company earned five ACORD Standards Awards last year. Stevenson says all of Agencyport’s technology products utilize ACORD XML Standards and that he promotes the use of the latest standards within the Agencyport product suite.

“We believe that embracing standards is a differentiator for us,” Stevenson says. “Standards enable customers to maximize the value of their technology investments while paving the way for their future success.” He adds that Agencyport, and now Duck Creek, is home to more property and casualty ACORD Certified Experts (ACE) than any other insurance technology vendor worldwide.

Gilgan earned ACE designation in 2015 and, as the director of training for Agencyport University, she updated the course catalog to include ACE Boot Camps and ACORD XML training for customers and anyone interested in pursuing ACE certification.

“ACORD standards are foundational to being easy to do business with, whether you’re designing and implementing carrier portals for agent use, or book-roll tools for book-of-business upload,” Gilgan said. “Being part of the ACORD community offers the resources, relationships and tools I need to help carriers and distributors conduct business as quickly, easily and accurately as possible.”

As co-chair of the ACE Certification Committee, Gilgan also works to improve ACE exam questions to ensure proper evaluation of ACE candidate knowledge and examines and revises eligibility and certification criteria for ACE program volunteers.

At the time of the award submission, Stevenson led Agencyport with seven active working group volunteers, two of whom chair working groups. He continues to promote ACORD volunteer time to all employees, encourages customers to become ACORD members, attends ACORD conferences, and supports XML 2.0 resource development time from employees. He actively promotes the ACE program internally and with customers, hosted the ACE Award Ceremony at the Agencyport Annual Conference last year, and achieved his own ACE certification in September 2016.
