Direct Insurance rolls out expanded property coverage
Direct Pojišťovna has launched a redesigned property and household insurance product with broader coverage, fewer exclusions, and a simplified online purchase flow.
The update focuses on covering real-world scenarios that standard property policies typically exclude. Direct highlights water damage as a key example: traditional policies only pay when the source is a pipe. Direct’s new product covers additional causes, including water released from items like houseplants — a nod to a real claim where a fallen cactus damaged a customer’s floor and was previously denied.
The insurer also removed exclusions for atmospheric precipitation. Direct will now cover interior damage from rain or melting snow, even in cases where a window was left open during a storm. Another addition is “aesthetic repair” coverage, which pays to restore entire surfaces — such as a full bathroom wall — when matching materials are no longer available.
The new property product has been available since mid-October and can be purchased directly on Direct’s website with only a few required details.
