AXA partners with MOTOGO on typhoon parametric and travel insurance

AXA Hong Kong and Macau  has partnered with MOTOGO, the digital automotive platform backed by Dah Chong Hong Motors, to launch two new insurance products for members: the city’s first typhoon parametric coverage and a cross-boundary travel plan.

The Tropical Cyclone Coverage, launched in July ahead of Typhoon Wipha, automatically issues benefit payouts in MOTOS points when a No. 9 or higher typhoon signal is raised, without requiring a claim. The MOTOGO Care – Guangdong and Macau Travel Insurance provides medical coverage up to HKD 300,000, alongside travel delay, missed event, and trip curtailment benefits for cross-border trips.

The offerings, provided at no cost to eligible MOTOGO members, aim to fill regional protection gaps as climate risks rise and cross-boundary travel accelerates. AXA says the initiative combines advanced climate modelling with automated payouts, while MOTOGO frames it as part of building a connected ecosystem for drivers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
