Apollo gains Lloyd’s approval for ReShare Syndicate 1972
Apollo has secured “in principle” approval from Lloyd’s Council to establish Apollo ReShare Syndicate 1972, which is scheduled to begin underwriting on January 1, 2026. The new vehicle will provide follow-only capacity on the outwards reinsurance programs for Apollo-managed syndicates.
The syndicate will be led by Paul Sandi, Apollo’s Head of Reinsurance, who will serve as Active Underwriter. According to Apollo, Syndicate 1972 will support property, specialty, and casualty classes, while also creating efficiencies in reinsurance spend and reducing execution risk for core placements.
“Following this week’s exciting Apollo news, we are thrilled to announce the establishment of Apollo ReShare which demonstrates our innovative approach to enhancing our returns to capital partners.” – David Ibeson, Apollo Group CEO.
“Syndicate 1972 offers a dynamic and diverse portfolio across property, specialty, and casualty classes, underpinned by a strong track record of success. We are really looking forward to the opportunities this creates for us and our partners in the future” – Paul Sandi, Head of Reinsurance, Active Underwriter Syndicate 1972.
“The creation of a dedicated long-term reinsurer for our managed syndicates will greatly benefit our capital providers. Apollo ReShare offers highly rated capacity, creates efficiencies in reinsurance spend, reduces execution risk for core placements whilst supporting cycle management. Our future strategy will be to also offer syndicate 1972 reinsurer support to our platform partner syndicates as part of our forward-thinking approach.” – Nick Jones, Chief Reinsurance Officer.
