Marsh and Apollo launch autonomous vehicle insurance facility for Uber
Marsh and Apollo announced the creation of a dedicated insurance facility for Uber designed to support the expansion of autonomous vehicles across Uber’s global platform.
The Autonomous Vehicle Insurance Program (AVIP) was developed as part of Uber’s Autonomous Solutions initiative and is intended to support autonomous vehicle developers, fleet operators, manufacturers, and original equipment manufacturers working within Uber’s ecosystem.
The program is underwritten by Apollo’s ibott division and provides dedicated capacity for autonomous vehicle partners, offering primary and excess liability coverage. The structure consolidates coverage for multiple participants into a single master policy to streamline insurance across the autonomous vehicle ecosystem.
“Marsh is committed to enabling the growth of the autonomous vehicle sector through tailored risk and insurance solutions. Our work with ibott and Uber represents a meaningful step forward in delivering a scalable, cost-effective framework for AV risk management and accelerating the responsible deployment of autonomous technology.” – Melissa Daly, Autonomous, Mobility, & Platform Risk Practice Leader, Marsh Risk.
“We understand the challenges and evolving landscape of the autonomous vehicle space, and we’re excited to offer a comprehensive insurance solution that is exclusively available to our partners. Uber’s Autonomous Vehicle Insurance Policy is a critical part of a comprehensive suite of unique services and capabilities that is helping partners to build and successfully commercialize autonomous vehicles in multiple markets around the world.” – Andy Parr, VP of Insurance at Uber.
“Autonomous vehicles demand a fundamentally different approach to risk and insurance. With more than 10 years of proven success in AV risk solutions, ibott is a market leader in designing coverage tailored to this evolving ecosystem. Our collaboration with Marsh and Uber to develop this proprietary program reflects a new underwriting mindset. By consolidating coverage and aligning interests across the value chain, this solution reduces uncertainty and provides the protection required for large-scale deployment.” – Chris Moore, President, Apollo ibott – Commercial.
