World’s first preventive approach to iron deficiency
Swiss health insurer CSS Insurance has developed an app that uses photo to determine the iron content on the plate – the world’s first preventive approach to iron deficiency.
In partnership with Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and Swiss startup SNAQ, the trio developed the “EisenCoach” app. It is the world’s first preventive approach to iron deficiency that focuses on education rather than food supplements and medicines. Users take pictures of what they are eating to later have the app – using AI – analyze the contents of the plate and displays the iron content of a meal.
The app is in beta version and can be used free of charge, anonymously and without registration by CSS customers and non-customers. Based on user feedback, CSS will determine if to develop the app.
