MAIF launches ChatGPT app for insurance information and risk prevention

French insurer MAIF  has launched its first application in ChatGPT, allowing users to access climate risk prevention services and basic information about insurance products before connecting with a human advisor if needed.

The app offers two initial services. Users can enter their address to receive an assessment of their home’s exposure to climate risks such as flooding, storms, and drought. They can also estimate the cost of bicycle insurance and receive guidance toward an appropriate policy.

After interacting with the AI assistant, users can continue the process on MAIF’s website or choose to speak with an advisor. The insurer said the initiative is designed to combine AI-powered self-service with human support when required.

MAIF said the launch reflects changing consumer behavior, with generative AI increasingly being used to search for information, compare products, and better understand insurance coverage. The company also emphasized that the application is built around data protection, reliability, and transparency.

“This initiative places MAIF among the first insurers present in generative AI environments,” the company said, adding that it aims to complement—not replace—the traditional customer relationship.

“We aim to combine the best of digital technology and human interaction with this first application in ChatGPT, offering a useful and accessible service,” said Romain Liberge, Marketing and Design Director of the MAIF Group. “We support our members as new practices emerge, providing reliable information and the option to always speak with an advisor.”
