Higginbotham enters South Carolina with Turbeville acquisition

Higginbotham has entered South Carolina by partnering with Turbeville Insurance Agency , an independent brokerage headquartered in Columbia with offices in Lexington, Beaufort, and Charleston.

Founded in 1991 by William L. “Bill” Turbeville Jr., the agency employs more than 60 people and serves personal, commercial, life, health, and employee benefits clients, with expertise in coastal property, construction, contractors, developers, and restaurants.

The deal marks Higginbotham’s first presence in South Carolina and gives the employee-owned brokerage an immediate statewide footprint in one of the nation’s fastest-growing states. Turbeville clients will retain their local teams while gaining access to Higginbotham’s broader capabilities, including its Day Two Services®, claims advocacy, contract review, loss control support, and specialty expertise in areas such as trucking and aviation.

According to Higginbotham, employee ownership was a key factor in the transaction, providing Turbeville employees with an opportunity to participate in the value they help create while preserving the firm’s long-term independence.
