HDI Global changes US leadership as it pushes for growth

HDI Global , the corporate and specialty insurance arm of Germany’s Talanx Group, is reshuffling its US leadership as it looks to expand in the American market.

Shadi Albert will become CEO of HDI Global US on July 13, replacing Jim Clark, who is leaving the company effective immediately after 23 years. Until Albert joins, Dr. York von Falkenhayn, currently Head of Market Management USA, will serve as interim CEO. The appointments are subject to regulatory approval.

Albert joins from W. R. Berkley, where he most recently led Vela Insurance Services and previously headed Berkley Luxury Group. He also held roles at Aon, Marsh, and WTW.

The leadership change is part of HDI’s Xcelerate29 strategy, which aims to bring underwriting, claims, and service teams closer to brokers and clients and support growth in corporate and specialty insurance.

HDI Global US operates through three carriers: HDI Global Insurance Company, HDI Global Select Insurance Company, and HDI Specialty Insurance Company. The parent Corporate & Specialty division generated about €10.3 billion in gross insurance revenue in 2025.
