Beneva expands oncology coverage, adds cancer support tools for workplaces

Beneva is broadening its oncology support, adding new coverage and resources for plan members living with cancer and the employers who manage their return to work.

As of September 1, the mutual insurer will cover cooling caps used during chemotherapy across all group insurance plans at no additional cost, under its therapeutic devices clause. The caps help reduce treatment-related hair loss.

Beneva has also released a self-service toolkit for plan members and their families, along with a separate workplace health toolkit to help employers support employees managing a diagnosis. The company signed the Canadian Cancer and Work Charter on June 10, a national employer initiative focused on supporting workers affected by cancer.

Beneva is Canada’s largest mutual insurer, with 3.8 million members and more than 6,500 employees. Formed from the 2020 combination of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance, it completed its merger with Gore Mutual in 2026 and holds $30.3 billion in combined assets.
