Beneva launches “Rebuild Better”
Beneva has introduced ‘Rebuild Better,’ a new home insurance feature that helps policyholders rebuild more sustainably after a covered loss.
The free add-on reimburses up to 50% of the additional cost—capped at $3,000—for eco-friendly and resilient materials such as water-resistant flooring, hail-proof roofing, or preventive installations like backwater valves and leak detectors.
The initiative follows a year in which climate-related losses in Canada exceeded $8.5 billion, with water damage alone accounting for 75% of Beneva’s 2024 claims. Designed to help members adapt to a changing climate rather than simply repair damage, Rebuild Better reflects Beneva’s mutualist approach of sharing expertise and financial support to make homes more resilient.

“These trends show that rebuilding in the same way as before is no longer sufficient. We must go beyond this traditional concept of repairing to build a more resilient future. Beneva is committed to supporting its members by sharing costs and offering expertise so that every loss becomes an opportunity to better prepare for climate related challenges.” – Christian Fournier, Executive Vice-President and Leader – Property and Casualty Insurance at Beneva.
