Honk combines with CurbsideSOS following Frontenac deal
HONK Technologies has been acquired by Frontenac and, at closing, combined with CurbsideSOS to form a larger roadside and accident management platform.
The combined business will be led by former Grubhub executives. Adam DeWitt will serve as CEO, Matt Maloney as chairman, Eric Ferguson as COO, and Morgan Hughes as CFO. The group previously built Grubhub into a large logistics marketplace, experience they now plan to apply to roadside services.
CurbsideSOS operates with a team of 17, down 26% over the past year, and raised $25.8 million in 2024. Meanwhile, Honk Technologies has 134 employees with flat headcount growth, has raised $31.8 million to date, and works with insurers including Vault Insurance, Branch Insurance, and Wawanesa Insurance.

Over the past decade, Honk developed a digital roadside network that selects providers based on location, performance, and job fit. Meanwhile, CurbsideSOS adds scale and operational depth, particularly in towing and accident-related services.
According to the company, roadside assistance is shifting toward a logistics-driven model. Increasing connectivity and higher customer expectations are pushing the industry to improve speed, coordination, and transparency, especially during claims-related events.
The news follows a related transaction in the space, as Agero agreed to acquire Urgently for $5.50 per share in cash, with the combined platform expected to serve more than 150 million vehicles and manage around 13 million roadside events annually.
