QBE names Sebastian Tjornelund head of marine underwriting in Asia

QBE Insurance has appointed Sebastian Tjornelund as Asia Head of Underwriting, Marine, effective December 1, 2025. He will oversee the region’s marine underwriting portfolios and facultative reinsurance business, with responsibility for growth, profitability, and complex risk decisions.

Tjornelund has served as Interim Head of Marine, Asia, since July and previously led QBE’s Asia P&I underwriting after joining in 2023. Before QBE, he spent more than a decade in senior roles at International Group P&I Clubs.

He will report to Ronak Shah, CEO of Wholesale Markets Asia, with a dotted line to Simon Lascelles, Head of Marine, International.
