Philadelphia Insurance recovers from network outage
Philadelphia Insurance Companies is back online after a June 9 cyber event that triggered a proactive network shutdown. While some media outlets speculated ransomware, PHLY clarified that no systems were encrypted, no email was compromised, and no malware was involved.
The company said it took systems offline to contain unauthorized access and is now focused on restoring full operations. Most core systems are back up, and billing services have resumed. Invoices are being sent out with their original bill dates, and to ease the disruption, PHLY extended all payment grace periods until August 1.
“The network outage temporarily impacted our ability to send premium invoices to PHLY policyholders. We are pleased to share that we are resuming billing services and normal invoice distribution. Invoices will reflect their originally scheduled bill dates starting from June 10 and onward, as if no delay had occurred.”
PHLY continues to work with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts as its forensic investigation progresses. Customers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious communications.
