Waze introduces crash history alerts

Navigation app Waze has launched a new safety feature, crash history alerts, to notify users of crash-prone roads along their journeys.

The new feature combines historical crash data and “key information” about the route (traffic levels, highway or local road, elevation, and more). If the route includes a crash-prone road, users will receive an alert before they reach that section of their journey.

To minimize distractions, Waze will limit the number of alerts drivers see, and won’t show them on roads they regularly navigate.

According to Waze, the new solution leverages AI and reports from its community. The Google-owned app says users report accidents globally every two seconds.
