Tokio Marine takes minority stake in Igloo
Tokio Marine Holdings has invested $5 million for a minority stake in Singapore-based Igloo , acquiring a 1.65% interest through the purchase of 493,984 shares at $10.12 each.
Igloo operates across eight Southeast Asian markets and focuses on embedded insurance distributed through digital platforms. Founded in 2016, the company reports having facilitated more than 600 million insurance policies and has expanded into climate related coverage, including protection against floods, fires, and severe weather.
Tokio Marine joins existing investors including Openspace Ventures, Cathay Innovations, Blue Orchard, and FinnFund. The investment follows Tokio Marine’s recent activity in the region, including a $5 million lead investment in Indonesian insurtech PasarPolis in September 2025, as the group continues to build exposure to technology led retail insurance distribution in Southeast Asia.
