Symetra introduces Cancer Care Compass

Symetra Life Insurance Company is introducing Cancer Care Compass, “an industry-first” optional rider package that offers a combination of cancer care benefits and services and is available at application on Symetra’s indexed universal life products, Accumulator Ascent IUL and Protector IUL.

The new rider has four components:

  • Multi-cancer early detection test — Access to the Galleri multi-cancer early detection test — provided by GRAIL— that detects a cancer signal across more than 50 types of cancer, including many that are not commonly screened for.
  • Health advocacy services — Health Advocate provides policyowners and their eligible family members with support to help navigate the healthcare system, including resolving insurance-related issues, wellness coaching, negotiating bill payments, and a 24/7 registered hotline.
  • Nutrition intervention, guidance and support — Savor Health provides policyowners and eligible family members with on-demand access to personalized, evidence-based nutrition interventions that can help prevent and manage chronic conditions like cancer. Services include customized recipes, menu plans and 24/7 online nutrition support.
  • Cash benefit — Policyholders select a Cancer Care Compass cash benefit amount at application. With a qualifying cancer diagnosis, a lump sum is paid with no restrictions on how the money can be used. Replace lost income, pay insurance deductibles and copayments, or even take a well-deserved vacation. No receipts or invoices are required.

“We’ve all been touched by cancer in some way, whether through a friend, family member, colleague or our own diagnosis. With Cancer Care Compass, we’re aiming to meet the needs of more customers by offering a solution that can help them be proactive about their health and their futures. The Cancer Care Compass rider package provides access to multi-cancer early detection testing and can help provide the monetary, nutritional and health care support to live a longer and healthier life. It’s a valuable addition to our living benefit portfolio, a suite of features and benefits that can help customers today, not just when they’re gone.” – Phil Bouvier, senior vice president, Individual Life Sales & Marketing.
