Sun Life adds Wellthy to life insurance benefits

Sun Life US has partnered with Wellthy to offer life insurance members and their families personalized support for end-of-life planning and grief care. Starting January 1, 2026, Wellthy’s services will be included with Sun Life’s basic and voluntary group life insurance.

Through a dedicated care team and digital portal, Wellthy helps families navigate medical, legal, and emotional challenges—from preparing wills to coordinating hospice care and managing grief. The partnership reflects Sun Life’s broader goal to make benefits more accessible and supportive during life’s most difficult moments.

Founded in 2014, Wellthy is a caregiving concierge service that partners with employers to offer support for employee caregiving, after-life planning, and related benefits. The company has raised over $78 million across five funding rounds from investors including Eldridge Industries, Citi Impact Fund, and Hearst Ventures.

“Life insurance is more than just a death benefit – we are supporting people from the moment they start planning for their family’s future, through the many emotional and logistical challenges associated with losing a loved one. By including Wellthy’s services in our life insurance offering, we are helping our members and their families – regardless of which person carries the policy – through some of life’s hardest experiences.” – Sheila Sokolski, vice president of product strategy and portfolio development, Group Benefits, Sun Life U.S.
