Stewart adds AI agent to Virtual Underwriter
Stewart Title has rolled out updates to its Virtual Underwriter platform, introducing an AI-powered assistant alongside improvements to search and access controls.
The platform, used by title professionals for underwriting guidance, now sits behind a secure login introduced in late 2025, giving access to Stewart employees, customers, and partners.
The latest update focuses on usability. Search has been upgraded to help users find manuals and bulletins faster, while a new AI agent, VU Explorer, can answer straightforward underwriting questions using Stewart’s internal guidelines and reference materials.
The move reflects a broader push by Stewart to layer AI on top of its existing underwriting infrastructure, rather than replace it. Virtual Underwriter has been in use for more than three decades, and the company is positioning the update as an extension of that foundation.
