Samsung to bring GRAIL’s cancer test to Asia
Samsung C&T and Samsung Electronics signed a binding agreement with GRAIL to introduce the Galleri multi-cancer early detection test to Asia. The deal includes a $110 million equity investment in GRAIL, priced at $70.05 per share, and marks Samsung C&T’s entry into cancer screening.
Under the agreement, Samsung C&T will lead commercialization in South Korea, with potential expansion to Japan and Singapore. Initially, tests will be processed at GRAIL’s U.S. laboratory in North Carolina. Samsung Electronics and GRAIL also plan to explore broader collaborations involving AI, genomic data, and health platforms.
The investment and distribution agreements are expected to close in early 2026.
“Our investment in and strategic cooperation with GRAIL is part of our vision to improve the health of billions of people. A potential collaboration with GRAIL could allow for the integration of our AI, our digital care platform, and device ecosystem with GRAIL’s clinical genetic data and technology, which could allow us to provide a level of personalization for our users to help them better understand their health.” – Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience Business, at Samsung Electronics.
