SafetyWing raises $35 million
SafetyWing, a startup offering travel medical and health insurance for nomads and remote companies, has secured $35 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Kinnevik with participation from Creandum, byFounders, and Mundi Ventures.
Founded in Norway and now headquartered in San Francisco, SafetyWing offers two products – Nomad Insurance and Remote Health. The first product is a global travel medical insurance and the second is a health insurance product designed for companies with remote employees in different parts of the world. Nomad Insurance is offered in partnership with WorldTrips, a Tokio Marine HCC company, and Remote Health is provided by VUMI.
“Safety Wing was launched because we first saw that remote teams are global, but don’t have the infrastructure to support them like a social safety net. We built it because we needed it as digital nomads and with a remote team, and we realized we weren’t alone. We were our first customers, and it has been a journey to get to where we are today We develop our products as software – constantly updating them so they are in line with the ever-changing work life – and there is much more to come.” – Sondre Rasch, co-founder and CEO of SafetyWing.
