Plunk raises $6.5 million

Seattle-based Plunk has closed a $6.5 million seed round led by Unlock Ventures, with participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Plug and Play Ventures, Vectr Fintech Partners, and Second Century Ventures.

Founded in 2019, Plunk’s mobile app helps homeowners make decisions to increase their home’s value. The process starts by giving homeowners a real-time valuation of their home, to later have Plunk suggest remodeling projects that will have the most impact on the home value. If owners decide to go with the remodeling suggestions, they can apply for a loan and get connected with a contractor through the platform.

If this model sounds familiar it’s because we recently covered a startup offering a similar service. In February, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures participated in Realm’s $3 million round.

“We want to be the most trusted voice in all financial matters related to homeownership.” – David Bluhm, cofounder and president of Plunk.

“Knowing what your home will be worth before you remodel will become the new normal.” – Andy Liu, cofounding partner of Unlock Venture Partners.
