Meditation app Headspace surpasses $200 million in funding
According to Crunchbase, Headspace has raised an additional $47.7 million – an extension to its $93 million Series C round announced in February of this year. This latest round brings the company’s total funding to $215.8 million.
Founded in 2010, the Santa Monica-based team of over 300 people operates in the space of ‘wellness’; reaching over 62 million users in 190 countries. Its plan retails for $69.99 a year after a two-week free trial and offers themed courses, a new meditation every day, sleep sounds, and bedtime exercises.
Aside from its B2C model, the company also operates a B2B business via Headspace for Work that offers mindfulness products and services to over 700 companies including Starbucks, Adobe, GE, and John Hancock.
Finally, according to Glassdoor, there’s paranoia, growing pains, and a ‘hiring surge’ at the company.
Bottom Line: in June 2017, the company confirmed it was valued at $320 million and as of early 2019, it was generating more than $100 million in revenue per year.
