MAIF Is Insuring Return Journeys

According to TechCrunch, MAIF has partnered with and invested in Paris-based carpooling service Klaxit to offer insurance in the case a driver cancels one’s ride home. The insurance is offered in the form of an Uber ride, booked by Klaxit on behalf of the rider.

Bottom Line: not surprising. MAIF has been an active player in the sharing economy with investments in home exchange platform, GuestToGuest, social network for neighbors, Smiile, and, airport parking and car rental service, TravelCar. Also, it is a partner of P2P boat rental company, Samboat, to which it provides “tailor-made insurance for private boat rentals.”
