Introducing Nomad Citizen by SafetyWing
Judging by its website, Nomad Citizen is now live but is not available directly to individual insureds.
Launched by SafetyWing , a travel insurtech founded in 2018, Nomad Citizen is a membership-based insurance product designed for people who live and work across borders. Instead of being sold directly to consumers, access is limited to members of approved communities or sponsoring organizations, positioning the product as a collective safety net rather than a conventional retail insurance plan.
The offering bundles three core protections into a single monthly membership. Global healthcare coverage allows members to visit any licensed provider worldwide and includes preventive care, hospitalizations, surgeries, maternity, mental health services, and selected complementary therapies, with annual medical limits of up to $1.5 million. The plan also includes income protection of up to $4,000 per month for members who cannot work due to illness, job loss, disability, or parental leave, subject to waiting periods. Life and travel protections round out the package, providing death benefits for dependents and coverage for lost luggage, trip interruption, and emergency support while abroad.

Nomad Citizen also includes non-insurance features such as Nomad Border Pass, which is positioned as a tool to help members stay longer in popular nomad destinations by simplifying visa-related processes. Access to curated community events in regions like Southeast Asia and Latin America further reinforces the program’s community-first positioning.
According to LinkedIn, SafetyWing employs roughly 144 people and has raised more than $47 million in funding from investors including Kinnevik, Creandum, and byFounders.
