Introducing HealthJoy EAP
HealthJoy expands its service offering with the launch of HealthJoy EAP. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers 24/7 year-round support for employees to address personal and professional issues before they impact employees’ lives and performance. As a fully integrated service within the HealthJoy mobile app, HealthJoy EAP drives far higher utilization compared to standalone offerings.
Over 123 million Americans live in areas with a shortage of mental health professionals. Additionally, one in four people live with a diagnosable mental health disorder, and half don’t seek treatment. When employees receive effective treatment, the result is lower total medical costs, increased productivity, lower absenteeism, and decreased disability costs. Employers know this, with 97% of large companies offering EAP programs. The challenge has always been getting people to use the programs; utilization has been stuck at 3% since the 1940s.
“We’re extremely excited to launch HealthJoy EAP to help our clients address mental health. When employers have rolled out EAP’s in the past, they struggled with employee awareness and came to expect low utilization. Similar to the successes we’ve experienced delivering telemedicine, our app improves access and builds awareness for EAP, which we are confident will result in a similar 10X increase in utilization. Using our virtual assistant to engage members year-round has proven to supercharge the value of any employee benefit. Our AI is both personalized and proactive with our members, giving them world-class attention that is fully supported by our team of healthcare concierge experts.” – President and cofounder of HealthJoy, Doug Morse-Schindler.
HealthJoy EAP gives employees immediate access to specialized professionals in counseling, social work, human services, and psychology for short-term consulting. Other services include work-life balance programs including help with financial, legal, child & elder care, future planning, debt support, retirement assistance, and more. The program is accessible 24/7 through the HealthJoy app as well as via phone. JOY, the HealthJoy virtual assistant, will assist in educating and engaging with members about their EAP program all year.
