Great American Insurance Group launches cyber risk platform for policyholders

Great American Insurance Group has launched EagleEye by Great American, a cyber risk management platform that combines the National Institute of Standards and Technology review of an organization’s cyber security posture with insights from continuous, external vulnerability scans and cyber security ratings from SecurityScorecard.

EagleEye, a collaboration between Great American’s enterprise information security group and its cyber risk operations, was designed to “bring the resources and insights of a Fortune 500 company to the small and medium enterprise marketplace for cyber risk insurance.”

“The foundations of this platform were built with the assistance of the University of Cincinnati Information Technology Solutions Center as our Great American team assessed the maturity of our own IT organization and identified the best way to manage the risks we face. The tools we developed became an invaluable system for identifying our needs, building the case for resources to implement a solution, and tracking our progress over time. It was a natural segue to share these resources with our agents and policyholders.” – JD Rogers, chief information security officer of Great American’s parent company, American Financial Group.

“Our policyholders often face big dollar challenges like ransomware and social engineering with very modest IT budgets. We jumped at the opportunity to build a compelling solution for insureds. Great American was one of the early insurers to share third-party security ratings and make ongoing vulnerability scans from SecurityScorecard available to policyholders. We are proud to be innovators and pleased to combine those insights with these new tools.” – Betty Shepherd, divisional senior vice president, Great American Cyber Risk.
