Gallagher acquires Apollo Insurance

Gallagher has expanded its Canadian operations with the acquisition of Vancouver-based Apollo Insurance Solutions, a digital insurance broker and managing general agency specializing in tenant insurance.

Following the acquisition, Apollo founder and CEO Jeff McCann and his team will remain in Vancouver and report to Dave Partington, head of Gallagher’s retail property/casualty brokerage operations in Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Launched in 2019, Apollo Insurance is a team of approximately 64 employees, according to LinkedIn. According to McCann, the company has raised $40 million in equity and $20 million in debt to support its BNPL premium finance business.

While Apollo offers a range of personal and commercial insurance products, its distribution strategy has been centered on renters insurance through embedded partnerships with landlords, property managers, and real estate technology providers such as Yardi, Dream, Payquad, Zen Residential, RentMoola, and Landlord Credit Bureau.

The company has also expanded into small business insurance through a partnership with Gallagher, redirecting users seeking coverage to a Gallagher-branded insurance experience.

“Apollo’s digital platform and talented team will strengthen our capabilities in Canada and expand our ability to deliver innovative insurance solutions.” – J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher.
