Fizzy Does Everything by Herself

Last September, we covered Fizzy, AXA’s beta-mode parametric insurance powered by blockchain, offering automatic compensation to policyholders whose flights are delayed for more than two hours. The service was launched with a promise of letting an independent computer, Ethereum, decide whether or not AXA should compensate policyholders.

It’s been 9 months since AXA introduced Fizzy, and now Fizzy is open for business with significant improvements. Here’s Fizzy’s latest and greatest: Simplified purchase process – Fizzy asks for the airline name, flight number and date to start the process. More coverage options – previously, Fizzy offered passengers up to a third of their ticket price. Now, passengers can choose between three levels of coverage: low, medium and high. More routes – Fizzy now reaches 5% of worldwide routes with a focus on Italy. API – partners can now integrate Fizzy to their sites via API.

Customers can purchase insurance up to 15 days before the departure of the flight via fizzy.axa. Although Fizzy is technically-ready for worldwide access, insurance is only available for Italian and French residents due to regulation. Also, AXA plans on offering Fizzy to more countries in the future, along with adding more improvements and options, such as accepting Crypto payments.

“AXA Italia puts technology at the service of the customer again: with Fizzy we launch the first travel insurance in the world based on blockchain technology, simple, automatic, transparent, secure and immediate. We want to bring our customers in a more accessible and faster world, thanks to the continuous release of concrete and valuable innovations, like the companies in the new economy. Fizzy does everything by herself, she is so simple to use that you do not even need a touch to activate. This means for us become partners and help people live better.” – CEO of AXA Italia Group, Patrick Cohen.
