Farmers’ text messaging vendor Zipwhip nabs another $9 million

Seattle-based Zipwhip announced it has raised $9 million in a Series B round led by Voyager Capital, bringing its total funding to date to $17.1 million. The company, which launched in 2007, pioneered the concept of utilizing the cloud to enable existing mobile, landline, and toll free numbers to send and receive texts from any connected desktop, tablet or smartphone. In other words, companies can text their customers from desktop computers or smartphones. This is a pretty big deal when you factor in the average age of traditional brokers that may have an easier time typing than texting. Bonus: you can use a landline as your text number, aka you don’t have to provide your mobile phone number. Bottom Line: Farmers is a (happy) client.
