Farmers adds tenant screening service for landlords through TransUnion
Farmers has begun offering landlords access to TransUnion’s SmartMove tenant screening platform, expanding its landlord-focused services beyond insurance coverage.
The online screening solution allows property owners to evaluate prospective tenants through credit reports, criminal background checks, eviction history reports, and identity verification tools. The service is available on a pay-per-use basis and does not require setup fees or minimum usage commitments.
Farmers is offering two screening options. The $25 QuickCheck package includes a credit-based RentalScore, credit screening, a leasing recommendation, and a national criminal background check. A $35 QuickCheck Plus option adds a full credit report and eviction report.
Under the process, landlords send screening requests directly to applicants, who then authorize the screening online. Once authorization is completed, TransUnion provides the screening reports to the landlord.
The offering complements Farmers’ landlord insurance products by helping rental property owners assess tenant risk before signing a lease. While Farmers promotes the service on its website, TransUnion remains solely responsible for the screening products and reports.
